Ramblin Rovers was founded in 2018 by Jacksonville, FL native, Hays Jacobs.

Hays’ approach to Dog Training is like any of our other relationships; building trust and communication with our dogs is the first and most important step for a dog owner to reach their training goals.

Hays is a lifelong dog whisperer who turned his passion for his family dogs into a thriving training and behavioral business. After receiving his certification from Starmark Academy in Hutto, Texas, Hays returned home with the same passion for animals but with a fresh perspective on the science behind their behaviors.

After a year in Texas, Hays returned home, where he began his career at K9s for Warriors, a non-profit organization based in Ponte Vedra that trains and matches service dogs with veterans who are dealing with the impacts of their service after returning to civilian life. Hays’ time at K9’s for Warriors was both meaningful and educational as it cemented his belief that dogs play such an important role in human life - whether it’s a pet providing companionship or a service dog providing vital assistance to someone’s life.

After two years at K9s For Warriors, Hays launched Ramblin Rovers as he saw a need to provide dog owners with a system to create stress-free relationships with their pets. Hays’ training philosophy is very simple! First you create the trust between human and dogs, as you would any other relationship. Then you establish that you are a team. It’s you and your dogs against the world - some new dog owners are surprised to learn it is as much human training as it is dog training! Then you apply real world experience. The key to it all: make training fun! Like humans, dogs are life-long learners. They want to learn and do good - let Ramblin’ Rovers show you how!

Ramblin Rovers Philosophy

Dog training is a straightforward process. It comes down to simple cause and effect behaviors. The challenge is finding a dog trainer who is an expert in a variety of methods to best serve you and your four-legged pal. Our methods our rooted in the following principle

Communication
The magic to good training is good communication between you and your dog. Through learned behaviors and consistency, we will work out a two-way system that will allow you to acknowledge both wanted and unwanted behaviors. On top of that, I work on teaching you to engage with your dog and learn how to effortless translate what they are trying to say to you.

Team Work
Don’t forget! You and your dog are on the same team - but every team needs a team captain. All dogs want to be good dogs, and it is up to you, as team captain, to show them what they can be at their very best. We do this by setting fair rules and setting the team up for success.

Real-World Practice
It is easy to be a solid team with your dog in your backyard, but in the real world, it can be a different story. We will work our way up to working together in public. We will work together to address those issues that arise when distractions are high and arm you with the communication tools you need to keep you and your dog in control over these situations.

Old Dogs Can Continue Learning New Tricks!
Dog training is a constant process, everyone involved should constantly be learning and developing their skills. Dogs, owners and even trainers. I am not here to “fix” your dog. I’m here to diagnose problems and give you the skills and confidence to address them going forward. It's a constant practice that I strive to make as rewarding as possible.

Training is Fun!
Training should be enjoyable for everyone. The more fun we have the better we learn and the same is true of our dogs. I make every exercise into a game that not only makes training more engaging for you and your dog but also helps to integrate the process into everyday life.

We will work with you and your dog to tackle specific problem behaviors and goals. Lessons last 1-hour.
